About Me

So, who am i?

Well, my name is Scott lawson and i am currently in my final year at college studying engineering. I am 19 years old and hopefully at the end of this year i will be going to University to study aerospace engineering.

Way back in June 2001 (such a long time ago) i came across pulsejets whilst surfing the net. at first they didnt really interest me as they seemed from the outside at least to be totally pointless! but after alot of reading up on them i began to get more and more interested until before i knew i was completely hooked and had the biggest desire to build my own!

you might ask "whats the point" well thats exactly what i thought until you realise that these things are so much simpler than the home built turbines with the car turbo chargers or the pressure jets which require precision manufacture. also they can be much more easily fitted to a go-kart for example much more easily than the lumbersome turbine engines.

With all that going for them who cares that the valves always break or are incredably fuel inefficient, i dont! almost anyone can build them you just need a little patience and a few tools.

Ok so the picture above is of the valveless kind but its still a pulsejet!

How i started.

I started building my pulsejet in December 2001 and at the moment im still building it! this might seem like it is taking me along time and it is but i dont have any of the required tools at home to make one so i have to build it in my spare time at college.

Ive also had to learn alot of new processes such as using a lathe and also welding so this lack of experiance has also slowed me down. Alot of people have build there jets in a matter of weeks.

At the moment im currently messing around with the electronic ignition system that i have built and also im machining the intake venturi which is very time consuming as any one who uses a lathe will know. the intake venturi and final design for my ignition system i hope to get finished soon and then i should be able to connect everything together and away i go!!!!!
